I am. It's rare, its something I dislike intensely. It happens once in a blue moon, but every once in a while I forget to see the individual, because it is convenient, because it gives me an excuse not to question myself, or look to closely at the darker parts of myself.

That's why it is important that I post here. Not out of shame, or self-hatred (that's silly), but to remain aware, and vigilant, to see my neighbors as they are, not as I fear them to be.

Feeling superior to racists is another way to hide our own feelings, to carry the racism to another form of bigotry. We have freedom, here in the U.S., and racists have a right to their opinions, though we disagree and will always speak up against those views when they speak up. We BOTH have free speech. We may even laugh at their idiocy.

But when we no longer see ourselves, except sitting in superior judgment of someone, we can no longer tell if we haven't slipped into the same error, different group.

You don't need this posted question, or to feel superior to them. Just keep speaking up. Respect their right to their opinion, but never let a moment go by when they speak up about their opinion...

...that you don't speak up about yours.

That's what I'll be doing.

I said it once and I will say it again. Anybody can be turned racist in a bad situation.

Drop a white person off in Watts, CA

Drop a black person off on a dirt road in the south.

The result is always the same. The person being dropped off will be scared and suspicious of any opposite race that approaches. The native race will attack in one way or another.

Put in the right situation you would be a racist.

Get off the high horse.
