I have a bad problem with staying up till 3-4am in the morning and sometimes later...Then I want to sleep till 11 or 12 the next day. How can I break this cycle? I hate being this way. I have been doing this for about two years now. Luckily, I have the luxury of not having to work. My husband takes good care of me, and doesn't really want me to work, (which is fine by me!!). I dont have any children, it is just me here all day. So I usually sleep in until he gets home for lunch. How can I get over this problem?? I would love to start getting up at around 6am and going to bed around 9 or 10...Does anyone else have this problem? I stay up either watching tv or playing on the computer...It's not like I am staying up to do something important. I just avoid going to bed. I have tried taking tylenol pm, and stuff to make me sleepy. I will get tired as hell, but fight my sleep cause I dont want to go to bed. HELP!!

That is ME. Since I have retired, I cannot "retire" at a decent hour. My mind will just not shut off. I have been able to sleep ealier in the eveing like at 10 pm or even 8 pm and think, "Yes, tonight I will change my body clock and get up early tomorrow!" Then after a couple of hours asleep, I wake and my brain is in full gear so I have to get up. Then, as usual, my brain tires at 2 am. It is 1:40 am now. I have forces myself up early many times before, but like I said, I would fall asleep earlier and only wake up alert again until 2 am. Sorry I cannot help burt misery does love company. Wanna stay up with me?

I have had this problem before. The only thing that has helped me is to either go camping and be sleeping outdoors or to sleep with the windows and curtains open.

It's hard to sleep in when the sun is shining in your eyes and you are breathing fresh air! DO that a few days in a row and you will be tired by 10 pm.

I do that and I get to a normal sleeping pattern, but if I close the windows I start going back to the late nights late mornings.

I have had the same problem forever... I hate going to sleep, and I also hate waking up. I have tried everything. Sometimes it helps me to sleep 6 nights a week enstead of seven. Now that i work a 8am to 5pm it is a little better because i am forced to get up at seven every morning. so by the end of that day i am ushually so exhausted that i have to sleep. I am no doctor but i think this is some form of insomnia. I know how you feel.

Set limits and follow through with self discipline. Make yourself stay up late, go to bed, have your husband force you up the next day early. Then lay down with him that night. After 2-3 nights, you will get back on a schedule. Avoid caffeine.

I have the same problem when out of work, and I often set the alarm clock to wake up, even if I don't need to. It creates a discipline that helps with the sleep patterns. Even if I'm out of work, I still have things I need to do, and getting up regularly helps.

It might be hard but make yourself wake up earlier so you'll be tired and go to bed earlier, or you can take some sleeping pills when you want to go to sleep and wake up at a regular time.

There's this thing thats an herbal supplement and its called Melatonin. They have Melatonin 1 (weaker, you put it under your tongue) and Melatonin 3(stronger, its a pill) I use it and it works for me! I think you get it at like a drug store or just ask your doctor.

good luck!
