I don't think there is a generic obligation to being emotional or not, it is definitely not connected to your sexuality, but rather to your hormonal balance and perhaps circumstantial too. I have noticed that women have the tendency to show more emotion when they have PMS, but men also have their 'moments'. And hormones aren't only the famous 'oestrogen', 'progesterone' and 'testosterone', but 'serotonin' is also a hormone and if your 'serotonin' levels are low, you will experience being more emotional and feeling down or depressed. And the list of hormones is endless. I have seen very emotional men in my life too, so I don't think it's only women that are emotional.
I do think that women are more 'allowed' to cry and men are more 'allowed' to be angry or aggressive. Although that is also changing these days.
Oh this is such an interesting question, we can carry on and on and on about this. But this is where I stop.

I think it is not a question of men versus women. It depends on one's personality. We had this connotation that women are more emotional than men because we live in a patriarchal society where men are supposed to appear as the stronger gender, which is why they are forced to keep their emotions with themselves having the thought that they are lesser men if they show how they really feel.

Depending on the woman and the man. Now my dad is more emotional then my mom. My mom is more dramatic.
But i would have to say that all and all in general, women are probably more emotional then men. Or at least it is more excepted by society for the women to be more outward with it.

Women when girls were encouraged to show their emotions whereas boys were taught not to.
My sister's Greek father-in-law shows his emotions all the time and at first it was uncomfortable to witness his tears. Apparently in Europe it is common for men to show their emotions moreso that men in Australia or USA.
I think it is better for mens health overall for them to be more emotional instead of holding it in or "keeping a stiff upper lip" as our English cousins say.
I never saw my husband cry until we had been married for a number of years. He did when he returned home after seeing his dead father. He howled and I just held him. He felt a lot better for it too. Since then the next time he cried was when his mother died . In these situations I think it is wise to cry in private or when it's appropriate in public.
there's no shame in crying it's healthy for the soul

We get the gift of it being 'okay' to show our emotions. It's a much healthier way to live, and yet, I always feel very uncomfortable if a guy is emotionally sloppy. Come to think of it, I don't like women who are always emotional either.

Most woman just show it more. Men are programed from an early age not to show emotions. women on the other hand are programed to show all the emotion she can.
