Home has always been important to Ryan. That is why he was a coach for the Texas Rangers before becoming a coach for the Astros. As a Rangers fan, I'd love to see him be a manager or a pitching coach for us. We need his help and guidance.

I have always been a Nolan Ryan fan, and was lucky enough to see him pitch many times here in Anaheim. Being a great player does'nt always translate into being a good coach. It takes a certain type of temperment and mental personality to be able to work with others on different levels. While I would love to see him active in baseball again in some capacity, I doubt it would be as a coach. If I had to pick somewhere for him to go I wouldn't mind seeing him in Texas or somewhere in the Dodger organization.

Nolan has always been a "I'll-do-it-myself" kinda guy. When you are as naturally gifted as he was, it's easy to become self-reliant in a competitive sport.

It takes tons of patience and encouragement to help someone improve. He does not have the temperament to be a pitching coach in the majors. This is my honest appraisal of Nolan and is not meant as a put-down.

With that said......... Where would he be willing to go?
He'd probably reject offers from almost every team except the Rangers or Kansas City.

His greatness as a player will not necessarily translate into being a great coach. I wouldn't use him anywhere but wherever he himself chose to be.
