The ship you are on has sunk. You have it in your power to save either your pet or a stranger, both within reach. Whom would you save?

MY pet because he has put up with me for around 8 years, without wining or complaining, I think it's the least I can do.

The stranger. Although my pet is important, the soul of a person is more important. The stranger probably has a mother and father, family and friends who both care and depend on them. While my pet depends on me, the impact of that loss cannot compare to the impact of the loss of a human being.

The loss of my pet would only affect me, but the loss of the stranger would affect an enormous number of people. Additionally, we have the obligation to assist our fellow man (or woman) according to what I believe is right.

The question is valid and difficult, but not that hard to answer. Saving my pet over another person would be a selfish act and one step from involuntary homicide.

As a good swimmer and SCUBA diver and as you question suggests, both are within reach. I believe I could save both of them ideally; but given the choice of only one, the stranger would prevail.

For the fact that I couldn't live with my self if my pet died or if the stranger died. So if there was any chance i would try to save both but if i couldn't then, wow, for as horrid as this may sound, i don't know. HONESTLY! Granted the stranger is a human, but my pet is alive too. And he is my trusted companion when my hubby is out of town. And my kids would never forgive me. Call me selfish if you must, but that's the most honest answer i can give.

the stranger. Human life is far more important than any pet I have or will ever have. Now if the stranger is some nut like Osama Bin Laden or the Syrian leader-I would choose my pet!

I'd have the stranger hold on to my dog so I'd be able to save them both. If the stranger refused to co-operate, then I'd have no choice but to save my little pet.

The stranger - think about all the lives attached to the stranger. Parents, Siblings, Spouse, Kids, Friends...... It would be a pity if I think about only about myself and save my pet.
Moreover birds would fly away. Dogs and cats can swim. So can tortoises and mice. They'd be able to save themselves.

First of all I would have to save myself as I'm not a swimmer and actually I'm scared of drowning. I would try to also hang onto my pet but I think it would be impossible to save anyone else even if I wanted to.

I would do my best to never be put into that situation.

The stranger- providing he is human. Human life is a step higher on the need to be saved list than my dog- love him though I do.
