i am considering getting one. do you know anything about it?

wonderful, I love mine. get it if you've already had one child, that's the law. But its the best thing, second to tying tubes.

After having my daughter, I had an IUD inserted. I bled continuously for 2 months. When the doctor removed it, it took some of my uterine tissue with it ... gawd, that hurt. Then I got married and we tried to conceive for almost 10 years ... and my OB/GYN said I had so much uterine scarring, that I may never have any more children. Almost 10 years to the day, I finally got pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy ... I was lucky. I wouldn't advise you to have an IUD inserted, especially when there are sooo many safer options. Wishin' you luck ... :)

The one thing that bothered me about IUD is that is does not stop the egg from fertilizing, it stops the implantation in the uterine lining.
I know several women that have them and think they are great, is just isn't for me. Kind of like a mini abortion to be a bit graphic.
