Wife- "oh, by the way- happy valentines."

Husband- "is it here again?"

Wife- "yep, same day every year."

Husband- "did you want flowers, or candy or even a card?"

Wife- "waste of money."

Husband- "you need me to tell you how much a love you?"

Wife- "no, but it would be nice to hear it differently then normal."

Husband- "my love for you has never been deeper, more clear, or more open then the very next second, I can't imagine a breath without you, nor would I want to. I love you more then anything or anyone else, and I would give you the world if it were mine to give."

Wife- "ditto back at you. So whats for dinner?"

And so it has been for near on thirteen years, and about five before that. We don't need a special day, we just need one another.

I live in New Zealand. For years we never bothered about it, now retailers are telling us we should. (more sales)
Florists report rose sales really flourish.
My wife and I usually just wish each other a nice day.
We've been married 39 years and got through most of the years without it.
We are more inclined to make an occassion of our wedding anniversary

February is a busy month for us. Our anniversary is Feb 5, Valentines is the 14th, My B'day is the 20th so we usually combo all into one somewhere along the way but almost always we share a card at least.

Harmon, That is very similar to mine and hubbies conversation. He always asks what I want, and I always say...flowers die, I'm allergic to chocolate, and I have too many cards to count and they're all hidden in the nightstand drawer to never be seen again. He says"You're right.", but every year in the evening he comes home with roses and I hand him his card lol. Then we run to the bed and bump bellies.

Valentines day is just another gimmick to reap more money from our pockets....

I don't need a pre-determined day to celebrate love with my husband...

Of COURSE we do. We've been together for 13 years-married for 11 this July. We usually celebrate by going out to dinner, he usually send me flowers or brings them home to me with See's candy...I buy him a gift of like some great cologne or something...quiet time together...sex....etc...etc....=)
