Sometimes you hear surprising, juicy rumors, especially when your young and in HS or college. Even though some seem very far fetched, they must have some truth behind them or they wouldn't start in the first place... Anyone else think that?

No, not at all. Some people start rumors just to start crap. No truth to them at all. Stories get stretched as one person tells another. I hate gossip, if I need to know something I ask the person directly.

Well, some can simply be made up to cause s*it & hold absolutely no truth!!! But some, I think do have some truth to them. U have to consider how much of it is actually the truth, who did it come from, how long has it been going around, etc. Some will add or delete facts just to "juice it up" a bit or misunderstand what they r hearing, & by the time it gets around to some people, the "Grapevine effect" has taken place! I think, given the right circumstances, that people should go to the person who is being talked about to find out what really happened b4 forming any opinion urself! >>>ZETA!!!

Have you ever played the game "Post Office"? You line up and one person whispers to the next a fact. It gets whispered down the line until the last person who must state the fact. It is hilarious at how the "fact" has been totally changed because of how each person heard or interpreted what the fact was.
Rumors are pretty much the same.

No. Not in all cases. Some rumors start out as malicious smears. With or without an element of truth, all rumors get altered with each telling and retelling. At best, gossip is a polite form of murder called character assassination.

Nope. Most rumors are complete fabrication. Seriously. Some are true, but you can never tell, so I assume all rumors are completely false.

No, some people start rumors simply to be malicious. (or funny)

rumors are vicious lies, that jealous/angry/insecure people start up to hurt someone emotionally,. and usually have no truth behind them, or take a situation and lie aboutit.
a lie never has any truth behind it.

i dont agree. rumors get started by jealous hateful people who dont have anything better to do than to make up stupid stories about other people. you should not believe things unless you truely know for sure yourself.
