there are characteristics that are idealistic in men (powerful, shrewed, cocky) yet may not be things that you would want in your husband. what things are important for you to have in a husband and what things would you rather leave for other men?

If there was such a thing as an ideal male/female where are they?. What is an ideal person - someone who says yes when they really mean no, someone who gives rather than excepts, - the list could be very big. BUT THEY COULD BE VERY BORING, and drive you mad!!. The ideal partner should be, - caring, sharing, sensible, but with a little silliness in them. Even this list can go on. Really an ideal person is someone you really love and it doesn't matter what they are like, as long as you both have that love for each other.

I believe that ideal is a mindset, and that the ideal husband/wife is who we make our partners to be. We can never have everything in a single package but if we work hard towards strengthening our partner's good traits and filling in on their weak ones, then we get our ideal husband or wife. My wife is far from perfect, but for me, she's as close to perfect as I can ever hope her to be for the sole reason that she works hard at being an ideal wife for me day in and day out. I couldn't ask God for anything more.

A sense of humor
Willing to talk about his feelings- good and bad
Confidence in himself and his abilities
Must love kids and pets
Doesn't live his life around sports- but can enjoy them!
Can use his hands- to soothe a crying baby, create a spark in his wife, change a tire or punch a jerk in the mouth!
Willing to ask for directions! ( well it's a stretch but you asked)
Enjoys the give and the take of physical pleasure(star***)
Will look at his wife with a gleam in his eye and know he has found a treasure- just as she looks at him!

*just all around nice guy.

An "ideal husband" to me is someone who will love you for you, someone who is not selfish, honest, someone who will treat you like a princess. Someone who is selfish just cant be in a relationship because everything has to be equal, from money to chores. I think I would leave selfishness, too much pride, and "players" for the other guys!
