Or even at home? Apparently, there are three countries in Africa that like us better than we like ourselves (I'm guessing they have limited internet access). See the story: America still cherished around Africa http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070628/ap_on_re_af/us_image_africa
We have many problems though stemming from many issues. What do we need to do to reclaim our moral authority and and improve our global image?

We can start by impeaching Bush and Cheney, then putting them on trial for first conspiracy to defraud then for crimes against humanity.
While this is going on we can send an ambassador to the United Nations apologizing for our actions under Bush and ask for their help in restoring peace to Iraq. We should empty Guantanamo Bay and all other detainee sites and have the UN inspect the well being of the former detainees. Those that we have no legal reason to hold should be released immediately. The others should be processed accordingly and allowed representation.
Then Bush Cheney, and Bush's father if found guilty of war crimes should be executed publicly by firing squad. This will send a message to our allies that we are earnest and to our real enemies that we determined.

Nothing. You're insecure. Hating Americans is a talking point.

Go lecture your fellow Commonwealth, the UK, Matthew. They have the label of the worst tourists worldwide.

Correct the blunders and slip-ups with human errors with communication problems.
Ever wonder why the children were running down the head of states and running down the whole country with their freedom of speech.
Explain to them that freedom of speech is to help in solving the mess and misery of living human kind back home.
Not in embarassing themselves in running down their own country.
Ever wonder how the loss of peace on earth goodwill to men was created in own backyards.
Was surprising they were having communication problems without anyone being aware of it.
Trace back in their education system.
Did they learn how to read and in words, lights, songs and pictures in communicating.
They must have learn and mastered their communication system from TV and videos.
Try and correct the blunders and slip-ups with human errors with them living in misery out there.

Stop intervening in the affairs of other countries just like in Afghanistan and Iraq because the existence of other countries must be respected.

All the average American has to do to improve his/her country's image is to simply be themselves, and to not be so ignorant when travelling. I'm not labelling Americans ignorant, but the mentality I feel for many (definitley not all.. probably the minority but they give a bad name), that they usually frown upon differences as opposed to embracing them.

When you disrespect the world by ignoring everything... how can you really expect the world to like you in return? How many Americans know about anything going on that doesn't involve their country? Think about that.

There are many people who don't like us, but, take our money or as in the case of the former Soviet Union, who use our currency as a matter of legal tender.

Everybody hates the U.S. except when they want something. Or, maybe they like us, but, the current media establishment portrays us as not being well liked.I have seen many a diplomat who dress and sound like Americans when expressing themselves and their children often go to our universities...

Next time you are watching the news, watch how many representing foreign nations, who 'hate' us, have the same tailor and the same mannerisms and haircut as Americans and often adopt many of our sports programs, like baseball, etc.Ted Turner, Bill Gates, and many other American Billionaires have given billions out of their own pocket to underdeveloped nations.

I could go on and on...
