In Minnesota, criminal sexual conduct in the first degree is defined as sexual contact with a person under thirteen years of age by a person who is more than thirty-six months older than the victim. The offense also is committed if the complainant is between thirteen and sixteen years old and the actor is more than forty-eight months older than the complainant (Minn. Stat. Ann. § 609.342 [West 1996]).

Therefore, you can 'be' together, have monkey sex together or do whatever you want to call it together once you turn 16.

it is legal for you 2 to be together i dont get why people say its illegal. and everyone will tell you its illegal to have sex because he's an adult and your a minor but in your state the age of consent is 16 years old so you can have sex legally. many people will disagree with me but they arent going to check the age of consent laws and i just did and your state says 16

Regardless of the statute, you can date. You just can't have sex. Besides, speaking from experience, it is better to wait.
