i want to instal windows media edition, and my hard drive by, factory setting, is already partitioned into 2, Local Disk C and Local Disk D, my question is can i just instal the OS on Local Disk C and justput all my files, like music amd movies and pics on Local Disk D, and if so, when i do instal the OS would those files be lost? Can any one help me? and would it be hard to instal it?

Yes, you can install your OS in the C drive and put your files in the D drive without problems. The installation will ask you for the drive you want to put the OS in, choose the C drive and all your data will be safe in the D drive. Because a partition is like another physical drive in your computer. If you have more than one partition you have the option to install any software in any partition you want. without affecting the others.

Yes you can place anywhere for your own file/documents, if you are careful not to give any deletion command any OS can be installed afterwards.

Yes u can overwrite the C: by diff os & keep the other data safe in d: for tat take all backup in d: first than overwrite the c: by idff os (only c:)

if you have xp, then you have everything but the remote for media. you want extra space, get another drive installed.
