I'm from Tennessee and every Texan I've ever had the "pleasure" of meeting seems to be an expert on every single subject. Anyone else ever noticed this or am I just running into the wrong Texans?

When Hurricane Katrina forced me from my home I ended up in Austin, TX for a couple of months. Not only did I not find the people arrogant, but I found them quite understanding, sympathetic, generous & kind.

Anyone who judges all Texans from the 10 Texans they have met are the ones who are arrogant. I have lived in Texas my whole life and there isn't a stereotype for Texans. I don't judge all people from Tennessee by the 4 people I have met who are from Tennessee. Which, by the way, wouldn't be a good thing for you. I am not defensive of Texas because I would actoually pefer living in Conneticut or California because of the heat here. If I judged all the states that the people are from who answered this without meeting more than 10 people from here, I would probally hate most of the 50 states. Don't judge until you have met a mass majority of people here. And most people only go to tourists attractions in which case, no one there is from Texas.

Howdy Partner,
I'm from the Lone Star State, Texas as you know it, and I sure don't agree with you on that statement.
Guess your gonna find know-it-alls in just about every state in our union, sort of goes with being American, however, just because I am living here in Texas, don't mean to say I know all them there answers there is to say! I ask far more questions of the Y/A Community than I do in answering the questions. Knowledge is power, and the more intelligent questions I ask, the better educated I become about the people, cultures and events in today's ever-changing world.

But, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited, but Imagination encircles the world"...
Einstein
I don't recon that I'm arrogant, curious about things in general, Yes, thirsty for knowledge, Yes, Polite, Yes and a true Southern Gentleman, you betcha, but not arrogant!

If your ever down my way, stop into my place, "Panama Jack's" Bar-be-que Restaurant for some of the finest roadkill money can buy,Fresh pickups daily, covering a 150 mile range, something on the menu for everyone's taste, no two meals the same, always something new, so come-on-down and sit a spell, pick a few bones and never have a dull moment at "Panama Jack's"! You'll come, ya hear!

I don't think they're arrogant. I just think they're ignorant because every time they claim to know something and I prove them wrong, I feel like they're not too bright and they feel like crap. But, there are also some very nice Texans out there. I tend to hang out with them more.

BTW, I'm not Texan. I'm a New Yorker.

Oh my goodness. I lived in Austin, TX for 7 years. Texans are the most arrogant people regarding TX. They think they are their own country. Their slogan bumper sticker is "Don't mess with Texas". How moronic. I hate TX and hope I never have the unfortunate luck to ever be there again.

You're just jealous because you're not Texan. Its not your fault that you're not perfect.

Its true, we do have a lot of pride in who we are, and it can come across as being arrogant.

Also, you could just be running into the wrong Texans.

Don't mess with Texas should tell you something. I got stopped for speeding in Texas. The cop told me to get my black a** out of Texas and he didn't want to see me there again.
