and can i make them into a tea?

They should be a bright red color...and YES they can be made into a very healthy tea...just cut the hips...(wild hips are best)in half...steep for about 7 mins...add sugar(honey is better,try orange blossom honey)...to taste...The hips of the rosa species, also make great candy...and are a healthful addition to some granola bars...
