They blame video/pc games for everything these days. Why don't they just take out blood/gore movies too... lol.

Actually, video games, especially online fantasy games, are addicting. Basically, games feed depression which if you play the game eight plus hours a day, it creates isolation from friends and family which feeds depression four-fold. Ultimately, it turns into a vicious cycle where the game is an addiction.

It brings out awareness for a problem. The worse addiction is gambling not meths or crack or heroin. So you can see someone getting carried away with games. Especially at such a young age. This time I think the government is doing the right thing. We should be more cautious of spending 5 hours a day, everyday for a month on a game or online because some people have flunked exams and not done anything else.

You've obviously not experienced "Evercrack," the name users gave to Everquest, in recognition of the addicting quality. The white house is only agreeing with the gaming community.

That said, I do not believe that media is responsible for anti-social behavior, for it ignores the existence of anti-social behavior before the existence of the offensive media. Further, crime is down across the board, while gaming popularity is increasing exponentially. It works like this:

People that are addicted to video games are not comitting crimes against people and property, because they are too busy being addicted to gaming.

At only $10/month, it is significantly less expensive than a frappuccino addiction.

Like movies, video games are protected forms of speech under the first ammendment, and there are ZERO laws that relate to their sale, manufacture, or distribution (notwithstanding the exception for pornographic content.)

Tha fault is not the video games...and they are NOT addictive no matter what anyone says. It is a hunk of plastic and chips...not a cigerette.

The problem here is that parents are too stupid and lazy to raise their kids...then are surprised when kid is a selfish monster who is anti-social because the PARENTS did not take charge and bring some balance to kid's life.

My parents let me play video games but would also boot me out of house and tell me to go play outside..this was in addition to making me do chores and errands, schoolwork, etc. My parents made me balance out my activities until i was old enough to to do this for myself.

But see parents no longer actually parent..they just claim kid on taxes and that is about as far as they go...the rest they want schools to do it.

So the problem is not the game, or the game system, or the baaseball, or the toy car....the problem is with the KID and 99 times out of a hundred it is because the parents didn't teach the kid anything of life but let kid do whatever he/she wanted

it's because we live in an age where we don't want to take the fault for anything. We like blaming the books, the movies, the internet for all our problems. What the hell ever happened to taking responsibility? The dudes at columbine didn't kill people because they were playing video games. They did it because they were nut jobs.

I am sure if they could and get away with it they would try. The norm these days seems to be to blame others or things when people can't control their personal behaviors. Everyone seems to be addicted to something these days. I think its just a lack of taking responsibility for actions and looking for excuses for bad behavior.

The lesser brain sends out dopamine to reward the body for doing something that gets you high, all gambling is dangerous especially in people who don't have strong grey-matter to override the smaller brain, these and many others need any help they can get.

Because then they can slap some sort of tax on the games they deem "addictable".

Face it, the gov't is a bunch of morons.
