Just ask Tony Blair and George W. Bush (and Dick Cheney).

Moon creates tides, tides make the world go around and around.

Things continue to change, of course.

Earth's rotation rate is still slowing down -- our days are getting longer and longer. Eventually, our planet's tidal bulges will be assemble along that imaginary line running through the centers of both Earth and the Moon, and our planetary rotational change will pretty much cease. Earth's day will be a month long. When this happens, billions of years from now, the terrestrial month will be longer -- about 40 of our current days -- because during all this time the Moon will continue moving away.

In this future picture, any lunar colonists would then henceforth see just one face of Earth. You can imagine this setup by stretching your arm out and looking at your palm. Now twirl around. You're face and your palm stare at each other the whole time. If the United States happens to be on the back of your head, well, just think what people there do not see.

The upshot: One day your descendants, if they survive a swelling Sun and other cosmic and human perils, will have at least 960 hours to work with each day. On some nights, half the world will be able to stare up at a full Moon for what seems like days and days. Imagine the loony things they'll have time to imagine, the strange lore they might conjure.

I consider that while lies are making the world go 'round, the world would turn even more efficiently if mankind chose instead to fuel the motion with kindness and truth. So I guess, literally, yes, they do but they aren't necessary, they can be replaced !!

I thought the moon made the world go round, or maybe that's tides; maybe it's centrifugal force, or maybe that's what creates gravity and keeps us from flying off into space; something scientific makes the world go round.

Philosophically speaking ,yes. If there were no lies then the world would not go 'round.Which could not happen so there have to be lies to keep things moving (philosophically speaking ,of course.)

One might conclude that we have not evolved into the ease truth, as of yet. Aside from some prominent groups, disceitful misery is on the wane. But to measure one moment is to measure all, so I don't know.

I believe so, because we don't want to accept the truth within ourselves. It's easier to wear masks than to show our true selves to the world and to our own selves. The hardes task we have in this life is to live without masks.

Hell no! Where there is no truth there is no sound human relationship. Where there is no sound human relationionship there is no foundation for ANYTHING. Lies may grease tracks very well for some sleazy operations and operators, but it is a nasty, slippery slope and there is ultimately only one direction...DOWN!
