for the first equation, you need to know the perimeter formula of a rectangle which is p=2w+2l right? okay.. then the length is 5+2w right? so you just plug it in the formula above, you will get 52=2w+2(5+2w) right? then you simplify and get 52=2w+10+4w. then you will get 52=6w+10. thn you will get 42=6w and w=7. if width is 7, you plug it back in the length equation the question told you before.. you will get l= 5+2(7) right? that means the length is 19 and the width is 7.

For the second question... let nickels be n and let dimes be d okay? okay.. in total you have 520 cents right? how much are nickels worth? they are worth 5 cents so convert them to 5 cents and convert the word dimes to 10 cents. then you have 5n+10d=520 right? cause you have n number of 5 cents(nickels) and d number of 10 cents (dimes) right? okay.. then the second equation will come from the second sentence of the question. the equation you can make from the sentence is ... d=6n right? cause for every one dime, there are 6 times more nickels or 6 more nickels right? okay.. then in the first equation i made... plug the second one. so you will get 5n+10(6n)=520. you will get 5n+60n=520. 65n=520 right? then n=8. so there are 8 nickels and plug the 8 back into the easier equation which is the second one. you will get d=6(8) right? which is 48 so there are 48 dimes and 8 nickels.

1) OK since there are 2 lengths and 2 widths, you have to list all four sides.
(2X +5) +(2X +5) +(x +x) =52
6X +10= 52
6X =52-10
6X =42
X=7

Length is 19 Cm and the width is 6 Cm
7 times 2 =14 +5=19

19+19+7+7= 52

2) X * 6(1/2X) X =.10 (dimes) 1/2 X =.05 (nickels)
X*3X

4X=520

x= 13 dimes or 1.30 1.30
6 times 13 =78 nickels or 3.90 + 3.90
5.20

Let x = width
Then length =2x+5
So 2x+2(2x+5) = 52
2x+4x+10 = 52
6x = 42
x = 7 = width
2x+5 = 19 = length

x= # of dimes
6x = #of nickles
.1x +.05*6x = 5.2
.4x =5.2
x = 5.2/.4 = 13 = dimes
6x = 6*13 = 78 = nickles

x=width
1) 52=(5+2x)+ x

x=dimes
2)5.20=x+ 6x

pretty sure thats right, now u just solve the equations.....u get x and put back in to 5+2x to get length, and put pack in 6x to get nickels
