I asked a question a couple of hours ago about roses and since the answer seems to be that I should wait till Fall to plant them...I thought I'd try other flowers. I live in Central California and it's hot (100+) temps right now but my house and yard are surrounded completely by huge trees. This blocks almost all of the heat but still allows it to be bright and sunny. I'm in zone 9. Does anybody know of flowers that could be planted right now and survive...I'm interested in annual bloomers. Thanks!

Any and all plants available at Walmart, Lowes, Homey-D can be planted now. These stores buy seasonal plants appropriate for immediate planting.

Zinnias, New Guinnea Impatiens, Gerbera Daisies, crysanthemums, impatiens, there are lots and lots. If you want roses, by all means get one (some) and plunk them in the ground.

Give the newly planted plants a nice drink of MiracleGro when you plant them to prevent shock.

have fun
