Why is rap and hip hop so crappy?

Jeez people, hip hop and rap "music" blow big time, come on now, why won't you admit it already?

your just trying to get people going. That's bad your making some persons heart pump because they are angry about what they said. And when your angry and your heart pumps fast you have high blood pressure. And when you blood pressure gets so high you could have a heart attack so you might be doing someone a lot of damage. So think of someone getting so pissed off at your question that it makes them have a heart attack next time you want to stir the pot.

Rap and Hip-Hop suck because it has almost all become the same cookie-cutter bull crap.

All rappers talk about is either their illustrious possessions, bangin' and where they come from, making money, or having sex with bitches. Hip-hop "artists" all talk about either making love to women in profoundly sexual manners, how adverse the ghetto was, or exactly how they party it up. That's only the lyrics... The music itself is far worse. The producers of these "beats" do the same thing every time. There is no doubt going to be a straight 4/4 drum pattern, 6/8 or 6/4 when they feel like getting creative, and multitudes of the same synthesized keyboard crap that happens to be popular at the time. The fact is, anyone can slap together a beat in minutes on their PC. People have taken away the skill and talent required for writing music. There is of coarse some good stuff out there, it's just harder to find.

Only people uneducated on the subject will agree that is takes no talent to rap. People who think that way should put their money where their mouths are. I'm sick of seeing and hearing the same old hater comments about how easy it is, its not music/art, it takes no talent, its so derogatory, it disses women, it glorifies drugs/sex/violence, and all that crap. Don't lump all of the genre together and expect not to look stupid. You want stereotypes? Try these out:

Country Music Blows because all they do is whine and cry about heartbreak, living the redneck life, and how sexy their tractors are. It takes no talent to whine about stupid stuff.

Metal and Hardcore Blows because all they due is beat some drums in numbing beats, make horrible noises on guitars, and scream senseless gibberish about who knows what. Anybody can scream crap, and smack instruments...no talent there.

Techno Blows...umpfh, umpfh, umpfh,umpfh...please make it stop! My brain can't handle the pounding electronic beat or the strange voices saying things that are so dumb you can't even understand whats going on! The talent involved hurts because its so strong! Yeah...really.

You get the point? It can be taken as far as you'd like, but the point is that every genre has its strong points and its low points. Not ALL rap is the same, just like not all of the other stuff is the same.

Now, quit drikin that haterade and go listen to some more Hootie.

The reason YOU think rap and Hip Hop music is so crappy is because you first of all do not understand the different aspects that are within the art form. Secondly, there are different forms of rap music. Not all of it is negative. And I'm sure that the only rap music you have been exposed to is what the radio pumps into your ears and what the television feeds you through the screen. Do some research and stop letting mass media dictate what rap music is and is not!

Actually i disagree. I mean sure some songs in rap or hip~hop are not the best but there are songs like that in every type of music. There is content in hip hop. I think it is soooo easy for people to look down on hip hop and point out the bad things but they never pint out our accomplishments. There ARE great songs in hip hop with meaning like runaway love by Ludacris and I know i can by Nas. There are soooo many so maybe you should do more research before you criticize. Thanks

Hip-hop is at least a form of music, albeit stuck in being simple. Rap is actually poetry or spoken word, and should not scientifically classified as music.

Blues and country have been around the longest.

LOL I like hip hop, but I must admit many new songs that are coming out are not very original or simply annoying. I really don't blame record companies for this since if there was no demand for that quality of music they would not provide it. Sadly the problem is our society.

im a HUGE rap and hip hop music fan.. thats all i listen to and all ive ever listend to, rap music started going down hill around the year 2000, it was the best in the early and mid 90's..even one of the best rappers nas admited rap is dead now. im not really sure why it sucks now but im dissapointed, so i just listen to old cd's..

Because it take no skill what so ever. All you have to do is make up some incoherent rhymes and you can do it. We live in a lazy country and 'regular' music (ya know, with instruments and stuff) take time and energy to learn.... so most people dont want to learn, so the pick the easy way. Believe me i feel the same way, rap blows... not just because it doesnt take talent, but it just plain doesnt sound good. I hope my answer is, at least, sort of what you were looking for.

not all of it is crappy, but some parts of it are crappy, cause music is music and is a preference for many
i just dont like hip hop and rap music videos that keep on showing women with big booties, and being slaves of men, as if rap could only talk about sex and money, and bling blings, but i do know that there are great rappers like tupac.

the whole genre is so throwed you got throwbacks, remixes of new and different styles, some artists put R&B choruses and hooks in there song to keep it hot u know? its kinda like fresh poetry with all the simalies and metaphores ya digg? Yea and some of the popular shyt is dumb which is what u pobably heard, but you cant really call that real rap. Just cuz u cat get wit it dosent mean its 'crappy'!
