ooooooooooowww! I LOVE Leilani!! It just sings and sounds happy and girlie. I expect someone with this name to be gorgeous.

Go to www.babynamesworld.com . Click on the tab that says "By Origin" Then go to the drop down box and go to Pacific Islander.

I liked LELEI pronounced LehLay or LaLay. I think it would go good with Leilani AND it's Samoan.

Congrats.

hey my suggestion is to put a name together on your own - i mean, that is how mao'i names were formed to begin with. maybe think about the time and setting of her birth, or a very important part of who she is and go from there.

for instance, my brother's middle name is "kealohapauoli" meaning mischevious one, or tough love. he was a stubborn one when my mom was giving birth, so it was fitting.

my first name is kaleokane'eha - voice of the broken-hearted man. during the time my mom was pregnant with me my dad was scrapping a living playing his guitar all over hawaii.

so it should really depend on how you feel about this child, your hopes for her, what kind of life she's coming into - this is the way of the mao'i. our namesake is everything.

im half samoan, so dont even get me started about the last name businesss ;.)

peace
