Some people tried to tell me that AIDS is actually discriminatory towards poor people, not their ethnicity.

(I think it is a matter of choices people make [with some exceptions of course])

Could you explain these numbers if poverty is the target for AIDS contraction:

4.3 million American Indians in U.S. in 2003
36.4 million Blacks in U.S. in 2003

In 2002 (don't whine about the year difference) :
Estimated numbers of diagnosed cases of HIV/AIDS, by race/ethnicity:

White: 8,347
Black: 14,398
A-Indian 168

Multiply the American Indians by 9, to get a comparative figrure with Blacks: 1,512

Which means, Blacks have a rate of nearly 10 times that of American Indians, the most impoverished race in the country.

Also, Blacks make up 12% of the population, yet nearly double the rate of Whites regarding AIDS contraction. Are we to assume that there is not a large portion of impovershed Whites in this country?

SUMMARY QUESTION:::

When will pandering liberals, like Hillary, point out the real issues, instead of using race to further divide this country.

Is it not clear that issues like AIDS are more about community acceptances, and practices than skin color, or how much money one has? And until those things are addressed, problems like this will never end?

Do you agree/ disagree that constantly blaming race for things like this is empowering racial tensions in our country?

How am i pretending to be color blind???? Unbelievable.

I'm pointing out that different things are accepted by the communities of different races. And as long as you don't address that issue, you are ignoring the problems.

I suppose it's easier for you liberal racial appologists to say something like, "oh, she got aids because she is black, it's not her fault". Do you not see how racially insulting that is? You are basically saying, "she is black, therefore she can not make proper decisions in her sex life"

When will you libs start demanding people take responsibilities for themselves? Why is someone always a "victim" of uncontrollable circumstances?

It's cowardly to play the race card at every bump in life. And it's even more cowardly for people to pander to racial blaming for political gain.

moose, you completely ignored the American Indian aspect of my question.

Yes, it's must be all that 'oppression' (sarcasm).

When you can find one ethnic group that hasn't been 'oppressed' in history, you can make that argument. Until then, quit your pathetic race blaming.

No, we are to assume that business continues as usual in urban areas where many blacks end up stuck in a rotten cycle they can't break out of - one of crime and drugs and prostitution. Black people are fighting all over this country to clean up their neighborhoods and get rid of the trash, no matter what color it is, and a lot of it is white trash. But the fact is that our biggest black populations remain in the large cities and have special problems within their own communities that contribute to the HIV rate among them. I watched an interesting program not long ago about homosexuality and black people. There was a large panel of black women who had contracted HIV from their husbands or boyfriends who were playing both sides of the fence. These women talked about how black people still have a larger base of homophobia than any other group and that they knew of many, many cases of women like themselves who got HIV from husbands cruising other men. Instead of coming out, more black men are afraid of the social stigma and so more get married to women than white gays. That's not the whole problem of course, it may not even be a significant contributing factor, but it's an interesting look at one of the special circumstances that drive this rate up. There is a vicious cycle of intricate problems that many urban blacks are trying mightily to break by working together to clean up their neighborhoods.

The government knows these problems exist in urban areas, and they do little to help black people conquer these problems in their neighborhoods besides being content to throw folks in jail. That includes not being totally outraged about the high incidence of HIV. They get the numbers, they report on it, but we don't see them really trying to do much about it.

EDIT: No, I think it's much more harmful to igore it and hope it will fade away. There's still a lot of racial tension in this country and not talking about it is like ignoring the pink elephant in the room.

i love it when people try to pull the "race doesn't matter in the US" card. this fuzzy math doesn't change the fact that the races are DIFFERENT because they are TREATED DIFFERENTLY and their communities and practices are DIFFERENT. there are extenuating circumstances for blacks, namely 230 years of white opression which has forced the black community into mostly lower class housing in lower class places with bad education systems that do not teach enough about AIDS awareness.

pretending to be colorblind and saying that race is not an issue is fighting ignorance with ignorance.

you're data shows clearly IT IS A RACE PROBLEM...

that many blacks have it... WHY SUCH THE INCREASE...

if it's a community issue, it's a BLACK COMMUNITY ISSUE CLEARLY...

I'm not saying they are doing that because they are black... but something is different...and that issue needs to be addressed...

conservatives are missing the WHY... and HOW DO WE WORK ON IT... here...

WHY are the community issues different?

you're just scratching the surface here... you have the facts... now the real work starts...

This could also be evidence in conjunction with Bill Clinton's policies when he was president. For two years we tax payers sent millions in literature and condoms to African nations to help prevent the spread of AIDS. Well, as most liberal projects and policies, it did nothing to even slow the spreading of this terrible disease. Come to find out, it is against their culture to use measures like that to prevent birth or disease. The men would not use them because of their cultural beliefs. It's not hard to believe it took the libs two years to realize the waste of millions.

Dont you think this has soemthign to do with the amount of sexual partners that is common within a group?

Black people have more sexual partners on average hence a much greater chance of getting a disease.

You can look that up several places.
