I need help identifying a creature.. First of all the bug looks like a skinny small black beetle. It pops itself up and jumps around pretty fast. When I first saw it, I felt something flicking my leg. I looked down and saw the bug. I grabbed a toy foam ball and threw it at it. I didnt want to step on it because I wansnt wearing slippers. When I looked closely to examine the type of bug it popped almost up to my face and I screamed like a girl. I cannot give you a picture because I smashed the hell out of it. To help you figure it out, heres something that looks similar to the bug I saw.

The one I saw was its legs are small and theres more if I can remember. It also looked like it had wings like a beatle.
By the way you can actually hear it pop and its kind of loud, like dropping a pebble on the ground. Please help me identify if they are harmless, I found more of the same bug (about 3) in my room. I have no idea if it has harmful abilities.

the picture you gave is not what you found on your leg. what you found was the click beetle. http://bugguide.net/index.php?q=search&keys=click+beetle (adult stage of a wireworm)
There are many kinds of click beetles. they are harmless to you and your crops.
They are in my area as well.
