Everybody lies sometimes? This, unfortunately, is not an uncommon belief... This would mean that the idea of 'honesty' is impossible to man. That the phrase 'I don't lie.' is an oxymoron and anyone who says it is automatically a liar.
What self-respect is possible to a man who perceives himself as dishonest?
There is no dichotomy between honesty and stupidity; a man who lies to an enemy is not morally wrong. To tell the truth to an enemy is an act of idiocy. If a thief wants to know where you hide your cash and you tell him you don't have any when in fact you do, you are not a liar...
There is no technical breech for adolescents either; that in your youth (training period) you might have told a number of lies, does not brand you a liar forever. This is what childhood is for; you make mistakes and learn from them so that when you become adult, you take full responsibility for your actions. An adult who lies bears the full moral responsibility for it.
What about a white lie - a good lie is a contradiction in terms... On serious issues, say you spare your fathers feelings by not telling him something important, (a lie of omission) like say that you're mother is cheating on him; if he ever found out he would be far more 'hurt' by the years of pretence and fakery than the truth involved - and you would have made yourself an accessory to the fact of your mothers corruption, protecting the evil and making a fool out of the innocent. On the less serious and trivial issues there is a difference between being rude, blunt, and honest. You wife might ask you, 'do I look fat in this dress?' etc. And if you think she does, you can tell the truth without being a barstool about it; you might say something like, “I like that other one better,” or “you looked great in those black pants you wore last week,” etc... She would much rather accept that she is fat than face knowing she is married to a liar.
To lie is essentially theft; it is stealing another person’s perception of the facts. It robs them of the chance to evaluate the evidence for themselves and act according to their own judgment.
So, the full rational statement of an honest man is, 'I do not lie to my friends!'

I practically speak the truth almost all of the time and some people still think I'm a liar. It is rather bizarre, because the logic doesn't make sense. Unless of course, I am suppose to lie?
The only time I can think that I would use deception is if it were to prevent someone from being harmed or something similar.

I'm not a liar.
In fact, I've never told a lie in my life (well, except for this one). -RKO- 06/28/07

try to do the best you can at been the best person you can every day! not to lie, not to cheat, not to steal, not to hurt, not to do bad....!
...then look at yourself in the mirror every day, in the morning, and at night, and ask yourself the question: have you been successful at that, not to anyone but just to yourself.... you can't lie to yourself!
That is what I do, and I wish eveyone would do the same thing too...!
