Just do a system recovery, and your computer will be new again. Usually it is not the make or model of a computer that makes it fast, but the type of dsl, or cable that you have. I have a compaq computer that I bought six months ago, for only $500.00, and it is very fast I have fiber-optics coming into my home, but I pay $50.00 a month for it. It is well worth it though..try this>>
This is called a "system recovery"
My windows XP, was already loaded on my computer, when I bought it. These instructions, will clean everything off of your hard drive, so you must back up anything that you want to save. I have done this once before, and I got these instructions, from a computer tech. When starting your computer, tap the F-10 key. click on next-yes-and follow the instructions, that come up on your screen. When you are finished, your computer, will look just like it did, when you first bought it. Do these steps, in order, when finished.
1. set up windows firewall
2. windows update (click express)
3. install your anti-virus program (update)
4. install anti-spyware (update)
5. Install service pack 2...Good Luck..

middle of the line?

go for an HP they're great for home use and a bit of modding, great for pictures and movies.

anything more than you might want to go for a custom computer if you are gaming or anything.

NEVER go for a DELL, you may think you are getting the best software but it is actually the first or second version of it, it is not the latest hardware either, they are so problem prone it is not funny.

It's just the CPU.
So if you throw out your old computer, keep your monitor, keyboad, and mouse!

It sound a bit lame, but it's a really great computer!!
