The 49ers have improved a lot this off season. Pair this with the success they had last year, especially Frank Gores running. San Francisco has slowly been improving. The 49ers also acquired D-Jack from Seattle, why Seattle did this I don't know. They drafted a beast of a linebacker out of Mississippi in Patrick Willis. The kid had a broken hand for a large part of the season. They also got Jason Hill from WSU, go cougs! Lastly they added Ashley Lelie.
The 49ers have improved their D and have improved their offense. With a more solid running game the Niners will take pressure off of Alex Smith. Smith also has a plethora of receivers to spread the ball around to. I'd say the NFC West will be tight between San Fran & Seattle.

As soon as the draft was over, I was sold. The Niners are a good organization, and I knew they'd turn it around eventually. I believe they will win the NFC West because they are the best overall team. First, they were among the top three most aggressive teams in free agency this year, especially on defense. They signed CB Nate Clements (23 career INTs), one of the best in the game, and also some big name playmakers in LB Tully Banta-Cain (5.5 sacks last year), and tackling machine Michael Lewis (107 two years ago). They also added dynamic linebacker Patrick Willis in the draft.
On offense, they put some more talent around young QB Alex Smith, who made great strides last year. The steal of the draft was Joe Staley, one of the best O lineman in the draft. The additions of WRs Ashley Lelie and Darrell Jackson gave him some talented targets to throw to, which should take pressure off of Frank Gore, one of the top 5 backs in the leaugue.
Second, the only NFC West team that has a shot of challenging the Niners is the Rams, who in many ways are almost mirror images of the Niners, but SF has a slight edge on defensive talent. SF's explosive offense should exploit that weakness often enough to win the division. Cards have defensive issues and O-line issues, and the same with the Seahawks. These two teams may put up some good numbers, but I don't see them stopping Frisco. 11-5 sounds perfectly reasonable for this young team.

The 49ers were 5-1 in their division last year, only with their only loss going to Seattle, and the Rams haven't improved as much as the 49ers. I believe the 49ers will make the playoffs but I certainly wouldn't bet anything on it.

The 49ers obviously had quite a few disappointing seasons after Jeff Garcia and T.O. left. But this season, Alex Smith can step up, be a leader, and help win ball-games. And let's not forget Frank Gore and the MUCH improved Niner
defense. Niners will win 10+ games and win the division!!!

I do believe they can win the division. I believe the rest of the division is weak enough for the 49ers to take the west, maybe even with a 9-7 record. They proved that they can beat the Seahawks last year, and beefed up their secondary dramatically to match up with Arizona's WRs. The Rams still look mediocre in my eyes.

win the NFC west, yes, 11-5? not likely. 9-7 is more realistic, the schedule will be tougher than last year and the loss of turner will hurt the offense, but the defense will be much improved from last year and carry the team for the most part

11-5 NOT!!!!!!!!!! However the NFC, and the NFC west in particular, suck so bad that the 49ers could win their division at 8-8.

I do not think so. Yes, the Niners will improve this fall; however, they will not win the division, and will not go 11-5.

Hell yeah!
Seattle has missed their window.
Rams are ancient.
Cards will never put it together.
I think the Niners take the division this year and should have it locked up for the next 3-5 years.

I think they have a couple more years. But they are making good decisions of who they are picking. They will get the team going and get where they need to be.
