Did President Bush Fail To Protect America On 9/11?

What did he do to stop these attacks? Clinton had been out of office for nearly a year. Wasn't the Bush adminstration competent enough to deal with foreign and domestic threats?

Thank god it wasn't a nuclear attack.

It might be important to keep in mind that Bush has failed to catch bin Laden for the last six years, saying he was "no longer concerned" with catching bin Laden.

Shelved the Hart-Rudman report.

Appointed new anti-terrorism task force under Dick Cheney. Group did not even meet before 9/11.

Called for cuts in anti-terrorism efforts by the Department of Defense.

Gave no priority to anti-terrorism efforts by Justice Department.

Ignored warnings from Sandy Berger, Louis Freeh, George Tennant, Paul Bremer, and Richard Clarke about the urgency of terrorist threats.

Halted Predator drone tracking of Osama bin Laden.

Did nothing in wake of August 6 C.I.A. report to president saying Al Qaeda attack by hijack of an airliner almost certain.

Bush - knowing about the terrorists' plans to attack in America, warned that terrorists were in flight schools in the US - took a four week vacation.

By failing to order any coordination of intelligence data, missed opportunity to stop the 9/11 plot

Yes of course he failed to protect the US. It just goes to show how braindead George Bush supporters are to blame Clinton when he wasn't even the President at the time of 9/11. Bush and his administration ignored warnings and lied many many times during the run up to and long after the Iraq war. How can people support a lying scumbag operation like this?

Assuming that 9/11 was carried out according to the official explanation, it represents a colossal screw up by almost everybody involved.

That would include the CIA, FBI, NSA and about fifteen more assorted intelligence agencies.

While Bush is presented as being lackadaisical about the threats (probably deserved) it could also be argued that the above agencies should have known that Bush is not the 'sharpest tool in the shed.' Having known that, steps could have been taken to overcome his liabilities.

They should have drawn pictures of airplanes hitting buildings. That likely would have helped.

seems such as you're searching for motives to hate Bush. in case you knew 9/eleven became coming, why did not you call somebody? so some distance as "driving the rustic low", there is quite a number of blame to flow around, incorporate Bush.

and Clinton did take some action pre-9-11, which as far as I can tell is TONS more than Bush even thought about...

The Bush regieme planned and executed 9/11, and it went off exactly how they wanted it to.

The first WTC bombing....do you recall that? It happened about 2 months into Clinton's first term. Was that Poppy Bush's fault? Now, where are all those people who did that bombing? Can you say "U.S. federal prison"? Yeah, that's right, Clinton went after each and every one of them and caught the same. All are rotting in our jail system.

Now, hole number 2.....do you recall when all the Repugs literally screamed "WAG THE DOG"? Do you recall why they screamed this? It was when Clinton sent bombers in to kill OBL in which we missed him by a mere 20 minutes!
