There is racism EVERYWHERE. Not just here. As a fellow Indian, in India they are also racism, but very little. Not as many stereotypes and discrimination as it is in America. Most people in America, are not racist and are very willing to meet new people and accept them whatever their back round is. But there are also people that can't accept Indians and instead of name calling, they will physically do something. As in this case, an Indian student was not accepted into a NY school even if he/she had very high marks. But how do you know for sure, that the student did not get in, because he/she was Indian? Are you just ASSUMING? Because if you are, there is a BIG difference. But racism exists EVERYWHERE. So don't' be surprised if you run into it again. Just go about the situation and forget about it. The school is missing out on a very intelligent Indian. Most Indians are smart you know. Just don't make a big scene. Let it go. And if something like this happens again, then you do something about it. Oh and I am very sorry to hear that the student didn't get it because he/she was Indian. Look at our world! It's a shame! People shouldn't be discriminated just because they are a certain race. The US has a HUGE problem with racism and we need to work on it!
I HOPE I HELPED! :]

I don't see racism in not admitting an indian student in a university: what's about the other applicants? They may have had better applications. Plus marks don't make it all. And what do his high marks mean: where did the student get the high marks from (a low-level or top-notch school, etc)?!
But first remember that India is certainly the most racist country in the world (Europe, Maghreb, other south-east asia, china, middle east are by far better) and the worst part is that racism is not even criticized in India! people are racist and there is nobody or nothing (rules) to restrain this racism.

Hi,
It's there all around the world... just that when it's the racism of the white against brown, black or darker it gets prominence
and more media coverage.
Even in India it's there... I have seen many incidents where migrants from Bangladesh, Srilanka and Nepal are treated like somebody who should not belong to India and stay in India.
The particular example you cited is probably an extreme case. Since I have spend some years of my work life in US and parts of Europe, I can tell you that US is far better than many other countries in accepting and tolerating other nationalities. However, things were totally different, I hear, in the 50s and 60s and even before that.
Best Regards,
Ajith

It relies upon as u.s. is widespread and distinctive, and as a element so is the racism. My journey at school has been through undeniable fact that's a place of better education and getting to grasp, racism isn't tolerated. the only incident I knew of became into some soccer gamers attacking an asian guy after changing racial slurs. there became right into a campus extensive backlash against the soccer gamers even if and that they've been expelled and kept away from by using the scholars. i became into additionally in a fraternity with different Indians in it, and none of them ever complained to me approximately racism different then checking into an airline. u.s. is distinctive, there are various darkish skinned people here from a brilliant African American community and an extremley super south american communy (legal and unlawful immigrants). u.s. as an entire does not tolerate racism, yet that doesn't quit its life. you will additionally be able to better education which promotes variety and acceptence. no be counted what, be happy with lifestyle, yet additionally don't be afraid to be aside of u.s.. we are a rustic of immigrants. whilst you're interior the remarkable place, no person would even no, nor even care that your dermis shade is darker through fact they are clever adequate to be conscious of it truly isn't any longer appropriate.

Intellectual and academic racism in the USA is a pill I find hard to swallow. Assuming that the student in question was rejected entrance on grounds of colour or nationality is the exception to the rule. Not wishing to trivialise your question - INDIA dear Mother India is by far the most racist country in the world - it is internalised in us that we go about thinking nothing of it.

I think it's everywhere in the world......even in the smaller world .....like an association. So US is not an exception. But it is true that americans are not scared to indians taking away their job.....more or less controlling them. from call centers to IT services to business or other industries......

When there is racism and castism in our own country, how can we point fingers at others ? Indians are immigrants in America and they should remember this.
