Run it by the doctor again...maybe it will jog something loose in his memory and he will change his opinion...Sit up and take notice of what he says...

Absolutely not, how do you ever expect to get in shape unless you start working out ... you need to start working out at slow pace ... whatever you feel most comfortable with ... and don't over do it at first ... cause if you do then your going to be really sore and probably not work out till that soreness wears off ... which could be awhile ... but once your doing good at the pace you started with then it is time to step it up .... if you don't increase your workout and intensity level then it is going to be hard for you to achieve you goals ...

Of course not, because you'll always be in the shape you're in, no matter when you begin. I know; working out is torturous, I feel your pain, but like jumping in an icy cold swimming pool, you just have to run and like Nike says, do it. You can!
