Dear Prodigy B,
Well the good news is that Garnett still hasn't been traded- so i'd try to get KG even if it means eating up the contracts of Marco Jaric and Troy Hudson.
The J.O'Neal deal is out there- but i heard that he will opt out after one year- so if you do this deal- you have to make sure you secure him for a couple of years. And then trade Kwame Brown for either Marcus Camby or get Ron Artest.
i think with a starting center of either Mihm or Turiaf, J. O'Neal, Ron Artest, Kobe, Farmar you'd be decent. The main thing is what happens with KG- if he goes to the Suns you might be screwed because you trade your future for J. O'neal and Kobe will probably walk if the Lakers can't be Best in the West.
They better figure it out- because the fans are tired of being a mediocre team...
Go Lakers!

Here's the ideal thing for Lakers - In a sign & trade w/ Luke Walton, send him and the draft pick Crittenton to Sac. and get back Ron Artest. Then trade Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum, and some other throw in (probably Kwame for his expiring contract) to get Jermaine O'Neal or if possible, Kevin Garnett (although we've all seen how well that's gone so far.)
Getting the big guys like O'Neal and Garnett are a no brainer, but more important, if the Lakers could accomplish both trades, having Artest would give us a defensive presence that would alleviate Kobe from having to guard the opponent's best player, and allow him to still be fresh in 4th quarters.
That being said, who knows if Sac & Ind or Minn would deal w/ the Lakers...They haven't so far.
As far as PG, the best they can do is sign Mo Williams or Steve Blake to the mid-level exeption, or get that Greek PG. It's practically impossible to get C Billups, because we can't sign him as a free agent (unless he wants the mid-level exeption) and doing a sign and trade is unlikely.
Mitch needs to become a better salesman...

no, actually as long as KG is still sitting and waiting to be traded Lakers are still in the running, now granted its a long shot but still alive...I don't expect KG to end up in L.A. but you know if they can find the third team then you never know...
I think there is a chance the Lakers might go ahead to send Bynum, and Odom to Indiana for Jermaine O'Neil...and perhaps may pursue Pao Gasol.

The Lakers will have to rebuild in the draft because they will not be able to do it through trades. They do not have the talent to get talent. What do they have that other teams want? It will be a long rebuild especially in the tough Western Conference. Good luck.

it's just a mess in lakerland.... kobe wants out, and there is no chance in getting KG....... the only pieces that the lakers seem to want to trade are: lamar odom and andew bynum... unless the lakers can somehow get jermaine o'neal, i doubt kobe is going to ever change his mind about the situation in los angeles

need to get Artest. He will bring toughness and defense.
if they can get a veteran PG, it will be even better. They should pursue a trade for Andre Miller.
Kwame for Artest
Bynum, Luke and Farmar for Miller
lineup of:
PG - Andre Miller
SG - Kobe
SF - Lamar
PF - Artest
C - Chris Mihm / Turiaf
I'd like to compete with that lineup

I dont see the big deal of trading lamar AND andrew for a lesser version of lamar, lamar would have been in the All star game if he wasn't injured.
