(It sounds better with a fake English accent with a little theatrics),

There he goes again,
Gamboling across the endless moors,
Of Baccarat and endless circlings of random hounds,
Led by the marbles lost inside.
Starlit mires tempt and sway,
With delicate dreams of misery;
Listlessly, melodically, but with rhythm.
Prophecies drift from within,
The travesty of chips and whores,
Lost and lingering, wallowing,
In the lost fountain of youth and decay.
Courted by free drinks and compliments,
Singing bedtime stories of yesterday,
As they're led away.
There he goes again.

Hi,
There he goes again and he’s powerless to do anything about it. He seeks escape in the gambling and the whores and eludes himself by believing the past was better. In his addiction he has lost his common sense. Denial that there is a problem leads him to repeat the same patterns again and again. The belief that the next risk will be the one that will make everything right. The delusory sense of certainty about the future; his prophesy; his believe that he will win as he convinces himself that just one more risk is essential.
There he goes again!
Polly
p.s. didn't need the 'fake' English accent!

The question is so close to a song, I am compelled to sing to you (ah, without midi waves, so you only get the lyrics):

la - La - LA - LA - LaaaAaaA (ahem) ... la-La-LA-LA-La-la ;o)
I don't know where I'm goin
but I sure know where I've been
hanging on the promises in songs of yesterday.
An' I've made up my mind, I ain't wasting no more time
but here I go again, here I go again.

Tho' I keep searching for an answer
I never seem to find what I'm looking for.
Oh Lord, I pray you give me strength to carry on
'cos I know what it means to walk along the lonely street of dreams.

Just another heart in need of rescue
waiting on love's sweet charity
an' I'm gonna hold on for the rest of my days
'cos I know what it means to walk along the lonely street of dreams.

Here I go again on my own
goin' down the only road I've ever known.
Like a hobo I was born to walk alone.
An' I've made up my mind, I ain't wasting no more time
but here I go again, here I go again,
here I go again, here I go.

An' I've made up my mind, I ain't wasting no more time.

Very lyrical description of a drunken gambler! Well done! (I was imagining it with the British accent as well...)
