So...
Would you rather watch a silly/funny "feel good" type movie,
or one that actually means something, even though it may not make you feel all that great about the world?

Are most people able to sit through a film that isn't "hollywod-ized" ie- doesn't have things blowing up/action sequences, but instead has interesting dialogue and more static type shots?

Does it p*ss you off when you walk away thinking what just happened, or do you like 'out of the box' bizzare stuff?

Completely bizzare: The Wall, Pi, Clockwork Orange, Requiem For A Dream, and End of Eva; all very close to my possibly non-existant heart

I would rather watch a feel good, funny movie and if I can find one that has some meaning, then all the better. It was released a while back but the movie "The Gods Must Be Crazy" comes pretty close.
Of course you have your fans of blow em up movies but most people will watch an interesting film. Remember how popular the movie "2001 A Space Odesey" was and it was basically dialog between one man and an unseen computer.
I am all for thinking 'out of the box' but am not sure about bizarre stuff. I guess it would all depend on your definition of bizarre.

I definately prefer films that make me think, and feel and are different then the generic conventions of film making established by Hollywood. In a movie, what I value most are interesting characters, clever dialogue and an intriging (sp?) plot. I'm starting to watch more independent films nowadays because Hollywood films seem to have lost touch of the power and importance of film making. The best mainstream movie I've seen this year has been Knocked Up because it was a comedy where life was the subject and the awkwardness and craziness of life was where the comedy was drawn from. You can't find good quality movies any more.

Sorry I rambled a bit there. Yes I like weird films that make me think.

Both have their place in the entertainment spectrum. While most people love summer movie time, I tend to loathe it and maybe only see three or four movie during the summer. But during the Fall when the movies are geared more towards smaller stories and interesting writing, I will see about seven to eight. Having said that, one of my favorite movies of the year so far is Knocked Up. Yes it's silly and pointless. But its' also well-written, well-acted and and directed. I think it's important to have a balance between the two: Don't just see fluff, and don't just see films that "mean something". At the end of the day. They're all just movies.

I want a movie that means something even if it may not make me feel all that great about the world. In other words, I want to watch a movie which is realistic and has a true-to-life script which will make me realize that I could be placed in the very same situation as the actors in the film.

I like movies that you can get into no matter if they're scary, funny,or have a lot of drama. It also depends on the actors/acress's too. If they're not good Its just not as good. I dont like the movies that have no meaning or is supposed to be funny but just has lame jokes. As long as Its interesting, and I like it when it keeps you wondering whats gonna happen next a lot. But not when your questions arent awnsered in the movie and it doesnt make any sense.

Personally, I'm up for anything. I do love challening, thought-provoking films about real and important issues. For example, Syriana is one of my favorite movies.

But I also love to have fun at the movies, no doubt. For example, I recently saw Live Free or Die Hard. Complete popcorn movie, and I had a blast.

It depends on my mood. I like independent films mostly. But sometimes after a long long day, I just don't want to think and I want to watch a dumb Will Ferrell movie.

I guess it depends on the movie, plus on the type of movie it's supposed to be...but generally, I like a lot of action plus good acting

Heyyyyyyyyyyyy! there's plenty of Hollywoodized movies with interesting plots.
All of the Die Hard movies
Leathal Weapon 4
Ok that's all I can think of now... but I'll ask it so, if you can think of any hit my little picture there and go to the questions and answer the one that says, "In your opinion, are there any Hollywoodized movies that have interesting plots, name them?"
