LOL....they were never going to get the troops out of Iraq. We all knew it, but stupid people voted for them anyway. LOL.....They are too busy with more non binding resolutions, more plans to destroy this nation (amnesty) and now they are working on censorship and doing away with the first amendment. People that voted these clowns in are fools.

Because as much as I want to bring our troops home, no one can figure out a way to do it without creating complete chaos and the potential for people we like even less to take over. We never should have gone in to begin with, but not that we are there we have to do something to try and clean up our mess.

Consider the facts that.
A total withdrawal from Iraq, would
1. lead to an invasion of Iraq by Iran.
2. more American deaths in Afghanistan.
3. lead to withdrawal of Afghanistan.
4. more attacks on Israel.
5. higher oil prices due to Iraq-Iran war and unrest in the area
6. more military build-up of Arab counties, including nukes.
7. we will need to reduce our military forces, we don't have any place in the US to house them, due to Brac(Base Realignment Commission).
8. We will need to build up our military bases to house military personnel.
9. unemployment will go up due to returning discharged troops.
10. Turkey may invade northern Iraq, they are already building up troops along that border.
11. Other countries in the area have issues with each other and could create more unrest--remember the first world war started in this area of the world.
Hey , they don't want to paint themself into a corner and have the citizens pi**ed off because they did not withdraw.

Because the Reality IS; as long as Bush stands in the way with his Veto pen at the "ready", there is NOTHING the Democrats can do to change the course of Iraq. And we STILL have 17 more MONTHS of Bush "standing in the way"- of our troops coming home from Iraq. It's just THAT simple.

It is politically convenient for them to right now. The longer the troops stay there, the closer to election day it gets while they bash republicans for keeping us there. Now I'm not saying Bush is good by any means, just stating the truth. We should get out, and the dems have failed big-time.
This is Hillary for you. Voting for the war so she can look like a strong, tough leader without even reading any data on it, and then going against it come election day.

I don't think the Democrats ever really wanted the troops back. Most of them voted to send the troops over there in the first place. They're just saying what you all want to hear!

Because President Bush keeps vetoing everything they try and they haven't got enough seats in Congress to override the veto. It's not their fault really, they did try before it became clear President Bush would rather let our military go without funds for weeks at a time than give in and allow benchmarks.

Because people would be pissed off if Iran, terrorist, or Syria took it over. Then the Democrats would have to re-invade it to get them back out.

they have tried many measures and all have failed because the Republicans gather enough support to block all attempts but even they are beginning to see so perhaps they should do what Clinton wanted to do and that is get Bush back before Congress to rejustify his war and if not then take the war powers away and end it
