I actually know how to build a computer as far as connecting everything and placing everything in and what will work. I just.... I don't know how to explain it. When it's put together, there's no software on it right. And sometimes some hardware like a motherboard has a driver with it on a disc. So my question is how would you put that software on it if it really has no software on it at all? And an OS. Like windows XP/Vista.

don't know but I read this and found a mistake maybe, the new build is entirely bare, no OS, no anything. Just everything hardware wise.

You go buy the OS from the store.

If you are a student then get the academic discount version of a web store - it is a lot cheaper.

Basic operation is supported by the OS out of the box. the motherboard and hardware should all come with CDs that have their specific drivers to get the best performance out of them.

Load the OS.
Load the drivers.
Load whatever software you have.

You need to find a full version software to load on to the built computer. Just doing an upgrade type will not necessarily work. A full version of Windows or Linux is what is needed to boot from the CD.

set it up in the setup probably using F2 to boot from cd first and install the OS. Then once you've formatted the harddrive and partitioned it install the OS on one side of it to make it easier to defrag later on and do disk cleanups. Next install your drivers. If your motherboard needs the disc which is probably for sound and ethernet or bios hook it up with those drivers.

put the xp or vista (barf) cd in and then after you get to the desktop, you install ALL of the driver cds, that worked for me.
M$ is a ripoff but it works well
