have you ever felt like ppl look down on you cause
you work at a fast food restaraunt?
they dont even know maybe we just want to make a few bucks
because we want to start our way into the grown up world
and what other way to start than getting a job
right? so if thats the case
why do ppl still look down on us when
we are making money instead of being lazy???

Trust me, it doesn't matter what type of job you do, there will be people who look down on you.

Any job is better then no job, I've shoveled sh*t (really) worked fast food, wash dishes, been a guard, and held many other jobs while I was putting myself though college. I'm sure many of the people who saw me looked down at me. But I had my goals and didn't let them get in the way.

Don't let stupid people get you down.

You sound young so I'll give you one piece of advice, start a Roth IRA, today. Put in at least $2,000 a year and put it in the stock market, you'll be a millionaire before you retire, and the best thing is all that money will be TAX free. (you pay the tax when you put it in and ALL the interest is tax free). Just about any bank can help you.

What a great question! As far as an answer... is there one? I think everyone should have to because you learn how to WORK for an honest living. And contrary to popular belief, many employers will actually hire you for better pay because they know if you handled fast food well, you will be good for them, too. It's easy to move up in fast food, and you can get a variety of experience.
And, does anyone think about the fact that some people really enjoy that type of work? We are not stupid... we just work instead of getting into trouble!
I now have my dream job of being a stay-at-home mom. It was the training I received in fast food employment that helps me with my everyday chores like cooking, cleaning, dishes, money management, budgeting, and many more.

I worked in the Fast Food industry for over 20 years. I started at the bottom and people always had something negative to say about it. By the time I was ready to leave, I was making over $60,000 a year, driving an SUV as my company car and wondering what happened to all those folks that scoffed at my decision to stick it out in a tough business like fast food.

I worked at a fast food restaurant all throughout college, and it was one of the most stressful jobs I ever had. People treat you like you are an idiot, even if you are weeks away from having a bachelor's degree. Don't let them get you down. The guy in the business suit who talks slowly and loud to you so you understand his order is probably an unhappy jerk who only cares about himself. I did have a lot of fun with the people who worked with me!

I've never been looked down on, well not that I noticed. Actually I don't care what they say. I've had rude customers but I just say sorry and put up with it. I have a job so I can save for University so I can get a degree and be something. Then some day I will be laughing at them.

Isn't it annoying ,people do look down at you all the time . I say at least I'm making money and working in society, than living off of welfare , not that welfare is bad for people who need it , I think people assume that fast food is so easy to work at ,when actually it's very stressful and they think that only stupid people work in fast food cause it must be so easy, who knows they're small minded if they look down on us,believe me they're are worse jobs than working in fast food.

I worked at an A&W Root Beer Stand in a small town in Wisconsin where everyone knew everyone else. I think it was because of that, I was treated with respect by customers and my bosses. I knew most of the customers by name. The only times I encountered rude people were those few people traveling through from Milwaukee or Chicago going up North. Believe it or not, it was one of my favorite jobs.

i have never looked down on someone working at a fast food restaurant, especially if they just smile and treat me nice. I started out at one in high school and did find some people were pretty rude. I had a person come in and ask for some gut bombs and I told him sorry we only serve hamburgers here.

Yeah, it's apparently the worst job you can have. My cousin makes fun of me for working at one, and he doesn't even have a job. He's about to turn 20, and I'm about to turn 16. Nobody else gives me a hard time because it's a first job. Now, I think it's pretty lame if you're like 30 or 40 and you're working at one, but when you're in your teens or 20s, it shouldn't matter because you're trying to pay for things and put yourself through college and stuff like that.
