in a major way, the knicks now have 2 white players for the first time in a long time, 2 dunk champs (i dont think thats ever happened, jones and nate) and 2 big time post players, aka the TWIN TOWERS, yeah i said it, too soon? :(

Definitely a good move for the Knicks. Francis and Marbury couldn't play together. Francis probably won't play much in Portland, but it clears up any obstacles in their development of their young core. Randolph is going to help take the load off of Curry.

The thing the Knicks can't allow to happen is keep David Lee on the bench. Getting Frye out of there was a step.

Finally a trade that could work both ways. This is maybe the wisest move Thomas has done as an executive. For Portland no loss at all Channing Frye would definitely help and Stevie, if deemed well to play, would help a lot oensively. For the Knicks, they have another double-double guy, two good guards, definitely a win-win situation for both teams.

Randolph will be a great compliment to Eddy Curry and David Lee. Randolph can score in the post like Curry and rebound like Lee. Randolph averages a double-double and a new home might be just the thing for him.
The Knicks will have a more balanced front-line rotation now and Isiah will have more lineup options. He can mix and match Curry, Lee, Randolph, Q. Richardson, Jared Jefferies and Renaldo Balkman plus this gives Randolph Morris time to develop without pressure.
Frye hasn't blossomed yet and he might never be a good player. If he can't hit his outside shot then he just disappears. Francis was just dead weight with an absurdly large contract; his best years are most likely behind him.

ny definitely wins this trade... sort of. i see this being good for the knicks in the short term since this trade will appease the fans for a little, but how will randolph handle the pressure and scrutiny in ny?... but i dont see the trade working out in the long run. it's a typical isaih thomas trade where he's just trying to appease knicks fans by getting big names (tim thomas, questin richardson, jalen rose, francis, etc) who play no defense and have poor reputations. the knicks are just getting another player who isnt very useful if he isnt scoring, plays poor defense, and isn't a team player, in other words, what was wrong with all the other isaih thomas trades... by the way, isn't randolph just a rebounding eddy curry? does a team really need two eddy curry's clogging up both the lane and the line at the knicks buffet?

Dear Knickfever3,

i think time will tell.

The positives of the trade:
*You get rid of the large contract of Steve Francis.
*Zach Randolph is a solid 20pt/10 reb. guy

The negatives of the trade:
*Zach Randolph is a terrible defender, and has character issues. Last year he told the team he was at his girlfriend's cousin's funeral and instead was at a strip club. Later that year he was involved in a shooting at another strip club-- Zach in NYC... (this is the determining factor of whether it was a good deal or not). If Zach can stay out of trouble- it's a steal for the Knicks. But he can turn out to be another cancer.

*Channing Frye has some more potential but i think you can afford to take this chance because you've Eddie Curry and David Lee.

Kindly,

Nickster

As a diehard knicks fan I'm happy to see this trade. You can't go wrong with a 20 and 10 guy in Z.Randolf. He's got to just keep his nose clean and Stay out of the strip clubs. Or least just don't get caught. What Happens in New York stays in New York.lol GO KNICKS!!!!!

Way to go, Knicks. Another step backwards. Another guy with character issues ought to fit right in there. The bright spot for them is the unloading of Stevie Franchise's salary obligation. Dan DIckau is a serviceable backup at the point, btw, and Channing Frye didn't, in my opinion, have a lot of untapped potential left--I think his rookie year was the best we shall ever see. He may do okay as a backup F at PTB

Well let's see............ Nope they dont get any better.......J/K.......I mean, maybe they do, because they get rid of Francis and his god awful contract and his hoggish ***. And giving up Frye wasnt good, but since they did get Randolph, I kind of say it was worth it... I actually can say this was a good trade (for once) for the NYK.
