I don't consider him a "gangster" just because he was kicked out of college for smoking weed...but he does have some character issues. Reminds me of current Net, Mikki Moore. Long, lean and very athletic big man that does not have much of an offensive game, but the Nets drafted him purely for his defense, shot-blocking and ability to run the floor. Will take time to develop, but for the big men available at 17, this was a good pick.

Then the Nets have a thug on their hands. Sean Williams is a good athlete, but at times it seems like he doesn't try, and off court problems could affect them. Sean Williams was a thug in college and that's why he got kicked off the Boston College team. But that's, the NBA is full of gangstas and that's why people like me love the NBA. Examples: Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson, and Allen Iverson.

Hey Ronnieboy12,

i think it's a good pick. i am a Lakers fan and was hoping he would be available. The guy can play defense and if the Nets can keep their nucelus of: Kidd, Jefferson, and Carter- getting a rebounder and shot blocker makes a lot of sense. You still have a guy in Kristic who can also score too- so they have a lot of good pieces which can make them competitive esp. in the Eastern Conference.

Nickster

its a good pick. lots of mock drafts were predicting the nets were going for it since the nets need good solid bigs. that's likely what williams will be. as a nets fan, this is good news since krstic will have a solid backup. this draft has been relatively lacking in quality centers out of the lottery.

If he didnt have all of those character issues, then I would say the Nets made a good pick......But since he does, then I say the Nets made a HELL OF A RISK with that pick! HOPE THEY CAN PUT A LEASH ON HIM, OTHERWISE...

Well, isn't he the guy who can probably roll up a fat joint? Taking risks on folks with character priors is always a risk. They often fail to outgrow their antics for many years. The talent is certainly there, but the character issue makes me think he is not likely to pan out.
