Well, I don't know if this counts as a "legal decision", but how about the fact that the Government does cost of living (COLA) increases depending on falsified inflation rates? To keep the increases of millions on social security, veterans and military retirees down, the Government does NOT COUNT the full inflation rate, but "modifies" it.
This makes it difficult to make ends meet, as the actual cost of living far exceeds what the Government claims it is, making us decide between medication or groceries.
we do not smoke, we do not drink, we do not use illegal drugs; we do not eat out; we haven't been on any trips, let alone gone on vacation for some years now.
It is so difficult.

The No Child Left Behind act.
I like Pres. Bush and all, but I'm not too fond of having to waste good credits in high school on an extra year of math, an extra year of science and less extracarricular activities. It has greatly affected the funding of the marching band program which I am an avid member of.
The formation of the Department of Homeland Security.
I feel safer because of it.
The right to freedoms of religion and speech.

I was convicted of a misdemeanor drug charge over 35 years ago. I was sentenced to 2 years probation and after perfoming successfully during that period my record was to be expunged, wiped clean. However, there is still a record of this charge and have not been allowed to be hired for almost all jobs. I have not been in any trouble whatsoever the last 35 years, yet I am still being punished. Certainly it is policies like this that can help explain the high recividism rate.

The US government passed legislation that allows foreign-born children, who are adopted by American parents, to become US citizens automatically upon entering the country. This bit of legislation allowed my two children to receive the benefits of citizenship instantly rather than several years later.
The government also passed a tax credit that helps to finance adoptions.
Finally, as a teacher the No Child Left Behind legislation has greatly affected my job -- for better and for worse.

By "the government" it can be State or US, if US. Personally I recall that one by one, beginning MA I think it was, States began allowing female birth control. Imagine living in a State or any time when, or place where, that was illegal.
