Obscenity laws state that in order to be obscene, it must be considered by the community as a whole as being obscene. With this in mind, consider that the porn industry out sells Microsoft by 25%. If thats not the community as a whole accepting pornography, then what is? Let me know what you think.

I would say that obsence in this case is when you subject someone to a sexual act when they don't want to be. For example mooning the queen at Wimbledon.

The word "obscene" is very hard to define in the first place, and changes with societal mores (and from community to community). For instance, no reasonable person these days would consider the pictures in Playboy "obscene." I would think that if it's something society would condemn, even if viewed in private, it would have to be the type of pornography that has implications beyond getting excited by looking at dirty pictures. For instance pedophilia, or extreme cruelty. These are things that reach beyond private consumption, in my opinion.

It is rumored that illegal "recreational" drug sales generate as much business as porn or software. But being popular doesn't make something legal. And being legal doesn't make something pure or moral. If 25% of drivers break the speed limit, does that invalidate the speed limit laws? I think your logic is suspect. Pornography is obscene regardless of how many people use it. It is very tempting to males, as we are visually oriented, and are aroused by visual stimulation. So there is a whole industry that profits from our orientation. But it's still obscene.
