No, I think this is a good trade. Paul Pierce needed someone else to team up with him such as a really good sharp shooter. He got that in Ray Allen and his 3 point shooting abilities. Sure it's doubtful that they will win the chamionship, but instead of being the worst team in the NBA, they will be playoff contenders. Every team needs a foundation to build a championship dynasty, and this is their foundation.

This move that Boston made was stupid. They already have a scorer in Pierce, why in the hell do you need another shooter who also needs to throw it up 20-25 times a night? Don't get me wrong, Ray Allen is arguably the best shooter in the league, but this is the wrong fit for him. Cleveland is a place where he could really shine and get where he never has before, the Finals. Paul Pierce is already a clutch performer and can shoot the lights out, the Celtics needed either a good PG or somebody to bang on the inside. Instead they went and got another wingman. Didn't they learn from having Antoine Walker beside Paul Pierce? Pierce and Allen can shoot, but they leave much to be desired on the defensive end, plus they aren't gettin' any younger. This was a bad move for Boston, they got bamboozled.

Dear Chan B,
Even though i'm a Laker fan and not happy with Boston for ruining the Lakers chances of getting KG. i agree that the trade was stupid.
First Ray Allen and Paul Pierce are almost the same player and you'll now have to play one of them at the three. Plus they are both old. The Celtics will be stuck with Pierce's contract for at least 4 more years (he'll be hard to move down the road because of that) and Ray Allen is only getting older.
It might make you a playoff team in the East but realistically you aren't getting past the Detroit, Miami, etc.
They should have gotten a player to build around with the 5th pick that could form a young nucleus along with Al Jefferson and Gerald Green, maybe like Yi JianLian, or a Branden Wright player.
They'll be competitive but they won't make it past the 2nd round.
Kindly,
Nickster

This is actually prolly one of the smartest moves for boston. They get a veteran to support Paul Pierces talent and also to mentor the younger not so experienced players. this will help the team develop quicker and stronger. Now this wont neccassarily mean playoff contention because they do not have the big man needed to play against the likes of Shaq, Big Z, Ben Wallace, and Nenad Kristic, but this will be the begining to a strong Celtics team.

I don't see Allen and Pierce co-existing well. Allen is a health risk. And forget Yi, he is not a center. They need a shut-don defender like Joakim Noah
