I don't know what the answer to our political system is... other than to say that the ones who WANT to be elected are probably the worst ones for the job.

The problem with no term limits is that you get geezers in charge of America, who are still trying to dictate the way of life from old-school philosophy. America's leaders are 1-2 generations behind the country as a whole. Some would argue the world is flat if they were allowed, or that they saw jeebus being stoned and crucified.

Out with the moldy oldies. They aren't good for America.

Although they like to make the people believe it helps in reality all it does is let stale ideas keep going. The party politics just keeps things that need to be done from getting done. Making term limits would help move this country forward, providing the media does not fix the election by giving biased reporting and extra camera time to their favorites.

we should be able to elect whoever we want in the legislature. The only reason we have a term limits on Presidents is because we don't want a permanent head of state. As far as the legislature is concerned, we need people who continually stay in the legislature because they are the ones that make the laws. Having alot of experience when it comes to creating laws is very important to a democracy. You guys may hate Ted Kennedy but you should complain to the people who continually re-elect him. Why should democracy be unhinged cuz you don't like the guy?

In CA we have term limits: The career politicians just play musical chairs. They hop from one office to another. Mayor to State Senator to Insurance commisioner. It's not really any better.

No, all government political positions need a limit to the number of terms they can serve! Otherwise you get jackasses like Ted Kennedy, I'm sure there are dems that don't like him, but continue to vote the party, so they have no choice but to vote for him!
