The closest comparison to clones we have are identical twins. Having the same genes and growing up in the same environment identical twins develop into distinctly different people. Human development is much more involved than simple genetic code or environmental conformity. The human child creates a unique and strikingly varied personality and world view even in the most similar circumstances.
What I would fear most is unintentional genetic mutation that would create very troubling ethical situations. To create a batch of kids and discover they have something terribly wrong with them would be horrid. Do you sterilize them, kill them or let them have the same rights as anyone else to live and procreate as they decide? What a nightmare!
Who I would fear is governments or institutions who would clone humans as slaves or second class citizens. If women stopped having babies and no child would ever be conceived naturally again I would consider cloning. short of that it is just to seductive to unethical people to abuse.

this is possible. By 2030, it is suspected that you would have a scanning device that could process something like a pet scan but many higher orders of magnitude more accurate...giving an identical blueprint (all info--99%) of the mind being scanned. By 2020 it is beleived humans would have developed the potential for regular computers to have the processing power of the human mind. Add those two together with 3d printing....you could easily create a robot that mimicked all your processes and was for all purpsoses-- you (the simulated mind would respond like the mind being simulated)..except for the fact that it would probably not feel...
as far as the robot thinking (from the scan and the capacity of a computer with the capacity of a mind)...and the limbs (nanotech fibers)...and body (printed from a 3d printer) and aritifical skin (which has already been developed in japan to make robotic hands more 'human like').....yes....you could be cloned.
As far as a biological clone...it would simply grow just like another baby except that when it grew up it would look identically like yourself. But it wouldn't be you, no...just like your child wouldn't be you either.
The power of the robot cloning? you could hijack people's identity. It would be pretty scary and hence most prob controlled.

The clone would start as a baby just as we did. It would be a new person as a baby is. It would not be like us in that it wouldn't go through the same experiences that we did, wouldn't have the same friends, it would grow up in a different generation with different ...everything really. I wouldn't fear anything with the cloning power really.

Identical twins are, essentially, clones. While they may have the same tendencies, they are rarely exactly the same in personality, intellect, etc. As far as personality goes, the environment in which one is raised is vastly more significant than one's genes. Intellect, if you're talking IQ here, is somewhat genetic. But this too depends greatly on environment. Mannerisms is affected almost purely by environment. Thoughts processes, I would say 50-50.

Cloning is the end of religion. As a result, there is a lot of fear mongering.
Major religions require 'conception' for the process of "ensoulment". No conception occurs in cloning. The religious would then have to contend with humans, some with souls and some with no souls.
They would be forced to re-write their doctrine and have it shown for the pack of falsehoods that it is.
Tuck a bible or other religious document away in a time capsule and watch the doctrine change that will have to emerge.

Cloning involves zygotic alterations, as information in chromosomes would provide the living organism with physical characteristics of the host. Similar to identical twins. Some are uncanny in their similarities while others are vastly different. It is a crap shoot.
What would fear me most about the power of cloning, aside from the religious stance of "Playing God", is the fact that one day our clones could possibly be used against us. Indentification problems would surely arise. Third world countries would become advanced in a matter of time. Overpopulation.
In short, I could even say I would fear mself.

nah, clones wont take on personality, intellect or mannerisms of their base because these traits are influenced, to an extent by ones surroundings---they're not genetically programed in.
i'm not sure i fear cloning itself, i fear how people may react to clones, i also fear how people might further abuse their bodies if they thought there was a clone-solution.

There would be one of me in every room!.
Even if you could make an exact duplicate of yourself at this very moment, right down to the exact brain state, each individual consciousness would begin to diverge in experience. One would have the experience of seeing a copy of themselves to the left and the angles of objects encountered would never be the same for both at the same time. All the little differences in experience would begin to add up to a very big difference in consciousness. Don't fear the cloner, fear the corporation that could make money from body parts and organs. Don't fear science, fear greed.

I don't know exactly why I'm against it for humans.
I have a problem with making people....it can be very dangerous....I'm thinking "Hitler".
For animals...I'd like a clone of my dog who died 2 months ago.
