I'm a woman, and I know that most women are more emotional than men and that sometimes we make decisions based more on our emotions than on what's best for everyone else. I for one would rather have a man in the President's seat. What are your opinions on women vs. men as President?

I don't think that women are incapable of making rational decisions, but I think that they are less likely to make rational decisions. However, I do not like President Bush either.

EDIT: Bethany I completely agree with you...And you know that any woman that would be running for president would be at about the menopause age...That's all we need running out country.

not that a woman couldn't do a good job; it's just with change of life, hot flashes, mood swings, raging hormones, well, i know how i get. can you just see her making a state of the union address and start bawling for no reason, not a pretty sight.

I don't see anything about our basic biology that would make us incompatible with running a country. Just because you are more emotional, it doesn't mean that every Woman is or that a Woman president would make decisions out of emotion rather than common sense and logic.
And, just to let you know, Women are actually statistically more likely to be rational and realistic when it comes to big or hard decisions. We are more pragmatic, especially when people other than ourselves are involved in the decision.
Why are you more comfortable with a man as President than a Woman? It doesn't make sense to me.
Peace,
Jenn

The president has many advisers who would help her decide what what is best, and she could not be any worse than the men who have been there lately.
Women have led many countries in the last few decades, some did well, some not so much, none of those counties were wiped out or disappeared because they had a woman leader. It is time the US caught up with the rest of the world.

The presidents job is a virtual position anyway, these days theyre just propped up to make speeches on behalf of the military industrial complex and the larger lobby groups like AIPAC and big pharma. Any prez who gets big headed and starts to think he is actually the most powerful man in the world soon gets punched in the side of the face and has to blame the scars on pretzel blackouts. Even Clinton complained he was a virtual president, so it doesnt matter who gets the job coz theyre all puppets to big money.

I dont think sex would be an issue in something like that. And, women do tend to be more emotional but its better than someone who isnt emotional at all and continues to disregard the opinion and welfare of his people (not all men). I am a women and I know plenty of us who would make great presidents.

I'm a male and would have no problem voting a woman in if I beleived in her. But she would have to know that by the end of her 4-8 years, she is probably going to be hated, just like previous presidents, such as george bush and bill clinton.

Female president would be fine should we find one that is intelligent and honorable.
That's my girlfriend.
yes she is far less emotional with most of life's ups and downs .
Some women obviously have very strong characters and don't get unreasonable nor self absorbed in emotional turmoil.
Each person is very individual and shouldn't be bunched up like a stalk of bananas

The answer depends upon the woman. Obviously, you wouldn't make a good leader. That doesn't mean that all women would fail. Keep in mind that not all the male presidents have been successful. Just look at the current one. There are many good female leaders who could be successful as president. But NOT Hillary Clinton.

It depends. I don't think it really makes a difference. There are other countries with women presidents/queens, like finland and england, that seems to be doing fine. Right now, I think a monkey would be a better president than GWB.

are you saying that a woman is incapable of making a rational decision?
did you see the video of president bush's swift action when he first heard about 9/11?
and sometimes, a good heart is needed.
i think if bush took too seconds to use his, we wouldnt be in this stupid war.
he is living proof that men, just how you think women, can be fudge ups.
