Yes. People call me a walking dictionary because I correct them so much.

EDIT: LOL You spelled grammar wrong!
And it's CONVERSATION, not coversation.

I do all the time with my immediate family, including my mom and grandmother, but they don't mind because I do it tactfully and because I wouldn't want them to come across as less intelligent in front of other people simply because they weren't using proper grammar. Sometimes I'll correct my friends -- but only if I know them well enough and the mistake is really annoying. Do I correct teachers, strangers, and adults in general? Certainly not! I wish I could, though, without coming across as arrogant.

I do this at every opportunity to my husband, who is a computer whiz, and an insufferable know-it-all about almost any subject. He regularly makes obvious mistakes/mispronunciations: my pet peeve is the way he says "neighbor"...he says "neivor" instead!! I get a kick out of correcting stuff like that. I also correct my children, in a gentle sort of way. Anybody else, I let slide!!

You'd be correcting me. I ask my friend and boyfriend to proof letters or correct my speech. I would be very embarrassed if a stranger corrected me.

Yes, it's a compulsion. I really should try to stop; especially since my poor boyfriend, who's German, has to put up with it way too frequently.
Why, we actually ended up going off on a tangent for about 15 minutes today about how to correctly pronounce "begged".
(He kept saying "bagged". :D )

I only correct my children's grammar. I never correct adults' grammar because I figure that if they don't know proper grammar by now, then they are a lost cause.

Everyone I know talks a lot of slang so that would be impossible if I started doing that! They are grown adults I wouldn't dare.

No. We would not be able to have a nice conversation then. But you could always talk to me French and I will correct you then.

If it's an obvious mistake, I do. I would want to know if it were me!

If it's something obscure or something that a lot of people say incorrectly, I ignore it.
