I just hope all you conservatives come out as strong for flag burning and other free speech issues.

Just for the record, I do believe in freedom of speech and I am against any legislation that limit it, even if I don't like it (Coulter, Hannity, etc.)

I can't believe someone said you will never hear a conservative say a liberal point of view should not be heard. Are you serious?

Funny you should say that.
Democrats are trying revive the fairness doctrine. They (along with some Republicans unfortunately) support campaign finance "reform." Both are patently unconstitutional.
You will never hear a conservative say that a liberal viewpoint should not be heard. But you will hear liberals rail against talk radio and demand a "balance."
Flag burning was upheld as a constitutional right by two CONSERVATIVE justices on the Supreme Court, Justices Antonin Scalia and Anthony Kennedy. Justice Clarence Thomas is a strong supporter of free speech.
It's the liberals, not conservatives, who oppose free speech. We conservatives are strong enough in our convictions to allow opposing points of view and not try to use the law shut them down.

I dont think flag burning should be illegal, but I think whoever does it should trade their citizenship with an immigrant that wants to be here and get the hell out of the US. The flag doesnt stand for any particular president or administration or action of the US. The flag is a symbol of this country and the Constitution. It symbolizes freedom and democracy and all of those that have fought for it. The flag and the pledge of allegiance go hand in hand and if you have a problem with the Constitution and the pledge then you probably shouldnt be here anymore. How disgusting it is for someone to burn the flag to protest when it is that exact flag that symbolizes the right to protest. It is so ungrateful and unpatriotic to literally spit in the face of everyone that has ever died to give you the right to burn that flag. You dont deserve the freedoms and protections this country provides if you are willing to burn them in effigy by burning the flag.
Freedom of speech doesnt mean the right to lie about a person or organization. It doesnt give you the right to harm someone out of spite. It doesnt give you the right to equal air time or any air time whatsoever, esp on private networks. It doesnt mean anyone has to buy your speech or listen to it. You dont have the freedom to force your free speech down my throat.

A true Conservative welcomes opposing views. If those opposing views have merit, a true Conservative will acknowledge this and find a way to reconcile it with Conservative principles. If the opposing view is without merit, it can only show the Conservative position as superior.
Those who would seek to restrict the speech of those holding opposing views are NOT Conservatives. They ARE neo-cons (Trotskyites) who disguise themselves as Conservatives. As their illegitimate, anti-American movement can not survive on a level playing field, they have no option other than to try to silence those who oppose them.

A real conservative is not afraid of free speech(that's how you know Trent Lott is NOT a conservative). And, as far as flag burning; I won't do it, but I believe the founding fathers sacrificed their very lives, for such protest.

You don't see conservatives chasing people off stage when they are speaking...we are all for free speech, but frankly I don't like flag burning (except for flag retirement purposes), it's destructive, serves no purpose and is not speech. To say you want to burn the flag is speech, to set it on fire is arson. But I will fight for your right to do so.
