Do you think having a beard reflects negatively on a presidential candidate's image? I can't remember the last time I saw a bearded presidential hopeful. And yet it didn't seem to hurt Teddy Roosevelt's chances.

I think it does have a nagative effect. Back in the 30's it was fashion to have a beard and it gives you usually a wise and old look. Old people where the ones who had high positions and a beard made you look older. People thought wisdom was with old men. On pitures it also look more impressive.
Nowadays people like younger persons with a new way of thinking. People don't respect older people that much any more in most cases. They want a clear clean cut leader that shows power and have young ideas. Most people think a beard looks old fashionned and is for people with old fashionned ideas. And also most woman want a strong good looking young man to lead them and will vote on that. A beard makes you (usually) old.

I once had a discussion with a girl who said she would vote for a candidate because he was sweet and had taken his wife out for dinner. Shouldnt we be voting with our brains for the best candidate for the job and not by perceived promoted image?
