Roger Clemens - 2007 - New York Yankees - $28 million dollars - length of contract: 6 innings every 5-6 days, when kids dont have ball games at home, thru June July August September (4 months), give or take a minor league 3 inning start or two.

Oh, and Roger only shows on days when he pitch -- provided he's not hurt on that day.

How is this not the richest contract in sports history??

The richest contract in MLB history is Alex Rodriguez's 10-year $252 million dollar contract signed in 2001 with the Texas Rangers
I know you didnt ask about MLS but David Beckham's 5 year contract with the LA Galaxy is estimated at $250 million, although its not all in actual salary for playing

New York is definitely the greatest (richest) city in the world. Besides the rich Yankees, the Knicks are the richest team in the NBA.
