Chalk it up to "pre labor" which feels much like the real thing....but isn't!
I went through this with my third pregnancy. Checked myself into the birthing center twice with "regular" and painful contractions and got sent home......After I returned home and went to bed, they would stop.
Finally I knew labor had started for real when my waters started leaking out and I saw bloody show and my contractions were truly regular and increasing in intensity and in interval (4-5 minutes apart or less).
Hope you will be holding your baby really soon!

True Labor Contractions
* May be irregular at first and usually become regular
* Get longer, stronger, and closer together as time progresses
* Walking usually makes them stronger
* Lying down does not make them go away
* Contractions begin at the cervix, move up and around to the back
* Often they begin in your back and move to the front
* Cervix - Changes by becoming thinner and starts to open (dilates)
Prodromal Labor Contractions
Often in the past prodromal labor has been given called 'false labor', yet every woman experiencing it has said in frustration "There's nothing false about what I'm feeling!"
* Prodromal labor can feel very much like active labor, yet is not consistently progressive
* Prodromal labor contractions may begin hours or even days before active labor
* They may feel like Braxton Hicks contractions or they may be quite a bit stronger
* They are irregular in length, frequency and intensity
* They may or may not be affected by your activity
* Cervix - Your cervix may begin to dilate, you may lose your mucous plug
Good luck
Keep in mind that it won't be much longer now.
Your baby will be born when it is ready.
Take this time to rest and prepare.
If at any time you are concerned about your baby's welfare, or feel that something may be wrong, no matter how vague the feeling is, call and talk to your care provider.

It can take quite a while for your body to get going really well with contractions. Be patient. Take it easy and labor at home as long as you possibly can. Being stuck on the bed for hours on end isn't much fun. While at home, read a book to your little one and when you feel contractions begin, let your body relax and breath remembering to keep your face relaxed. It will help you to ease into the surge of the contraction. When you find that you're taking them very seriously and your mindset has changed, then get yourself to the hospital. Until then, enjoy the experience. Good luck!

At least you can reassure yourself you'll definately have the baby in the next 10 days! They won't let you go much longer. With my last baby I was having these contractions a week before birth, they were ripening my cervix, and i had a show 4 days before giving birth, then my waters broke on the day i gave birth. It was all pre labour pains. It'll happen soon!

Yes,cant you remember what signs to look out for? You have been though it once before, this is your second baby, you should have some ideas,? But if the nurse said you are one centimetre,Yes you are in Labour slow Labour by the sound of things,if you haven't felt the baby move for a couple of hours at a time,I certainly would want to know why, so there is something to check for movement of the baby, but you say you went to hospital on Sunday, well its Friday now,and for me if you were 1centimetre on Sunday, you only go up to 10centimetres and tou are fully opened for the baby to get out, If i was you id go first thing in morning back to the hospital, explain your situation and demand a scan to see if your baby is ok,go to A n E, THEY CANT REFUSE YOU TREATMENT,YOU WILL BE IN SAFE HANDS,there will monitor the baby's heart beat, and give you a emergency scan straight away with out you even mention a scan to them. God you are the longest labour for having a baby that iv know off,its like since Sunday, you have been in Labour over 96hours now, please let me know what is happening after you have had the baby, hope everything goes alright for you and the baby.(i bet its a boy)boys are lazy in labour,

It means that your uterus is practicing for the real thing. As long as the baby is moving and you are not bleeding, you can safely wait until they are 5 minutes a part, unless you live more than a half hour from the hospital, then go sooner.
