I have a 1990 Bmw 525i and for some reason the front door will not function properly. Central locking works when the door is open but the drivers door will not lock with the others when it is closed. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the latch but not sure for definite. This is really becoming a problem so any information would be great

It sounds like you have a dead actuator. It's no very common, but not unheard of.
The solenoid coil in your actuator is probably dead. Get a used actuator from a junkyard for cheap.

Sounds like a broken wire in the harness between the door and the body.
