I wanted to delete my temp files. I went to find internet options and was afraid to delete the cookies. XP used to have an option to delete temp files. I checked to see how many files there were and I noticed that some of the last modified are from 1994 up to when I got this new comp.. can someone explain why? Does this mean I did not get new computer? Totally confused. Thanks for any suggestions. Laptop is running slow also.

I built my own computer this year and I have some files dated back to 2002. I wouldn't worry about it. It just implies the last time the file was modified. Applications frequently throw stuff into the temp directory for interim processing. It's possible some apps have moved files (with that modified date) to the temp directory for some reason. Microsoft is not very good about cleanup of this info.

Go ahead, delete your temp files and cookies. Run Disc Cleanup and defragmenter under system tools.

I am confused a little. If you went to something, and it is dated 1994. I will guess, you have some old fileson it associated with a transfer from another computer.
If you transfered. If you did not, were you the First Owner- or did you get a returned one.
