I'm going to the Twins-Yankees series over the 4th of July in New York. I am a big Twins fan (and from Minnesota) but I have heard from some people that wearing any Twins gear, like a hat or jersey, would be a mistake. Anyone have suggestions based on experience?

Generally, you get what you give. Across town, at Shea, I've seen visiting fans take good-natured ribbing from Mets fans and give good-natured ribbing back.

More hostile visiting fans invited a more hostile response.

Go in twins gear! I was at the twins-mets game last week and three people in the row in front of me were wearing twins gear and nothing happened to them. I'm a die hard braves fan and have showed up to shea in braves gear and the worst that happed to me was that people yelled at me that braves were bad. Nothing wrong with supporting your team. Go ahed. Wear the twins gear.

Yes you can. I'm a yankee fan and been to tons of games. Wear your hat and enjoy the game. Just dont be obnoxious and dont sit in the left field bleachers. NY is not like fenway or philly.

You won't get physically assaulted. At least you most likely won't get physically assaulted. You will be verbally harassed, however, and things will most likely get thrown in your direction. If you absolutely must wear Twins gear, change into it once in your seat or keep it covered until then. As long as you aren't wearing Red Sox gear you should make it out alive.

I went to Fenway with my Dad, and he wore a Mets jersey (and the A's were playing...). He didn't get beat up, so I'm sure you'll be fine. But you never know. You'll be fine. I mean, they have security, right?

Just stay out of the way of Yankee fans way, and you should be fine
